The building of the stone castle used to be dated to the reign of the Czech king Přemysl Otakar I (1197-1230) but with the finding of a Romanesque chapel which experts consider one of the oldest buildings of the Czech type, it is possible to date it to the 1170s or earlier.
I first came to Prague to live in May 2008. I was going to stay for only one year. That one year turned into much more. I Lived in Prague for almost three years. I found I loved life in this City. I Taught Business English full time at corporations for a Language School there. I lived in Smichov, Prague 5. I walked throughout Prague on a daily basis and on most weekends I could be found traveling the Czech Republic capturing the images of everything there is around me. I now know it better than my home City of Rochester, NY.
I returned to the US in March 2011 and am now working again in a great position. I did a "Abroad in the Czech Republic" blog for the 3 years I lived in Prague. I started another "Prague" blog in September 2011 when I was able to return for three weeks, a Gift, as I never imagined I would or could return to this wonderful place filled with wonderful beautiful people so soon again. Cheers.
In January of 2012 I was diagnosed with Psuedomyxoma Peritonei, a Mucin cancer that originate mostly in the appendix and then spread slowly throughout the abdomen. Bummer... but, hey I LIVED in Prague. ;-)
