Serendipitously met and had dinner with a good friend last night in Vinohrady. She, well is A very Special Person. Got to meet her boyfriend as well. A Nice guy. It was a surprise to both she and I, so spur of the moment, but so nice to see her again after almost 2 years. You looked happy M. Excellent. ...and... just so great to talk with you about so much again. Give K a hug from me.

Labutí jezero (Swan Lake)
Went with a friend this evening to see the Ballet Swan Lake at the National Theatre. I bought the tickets before I left for the US before Christmas as I Have been wanting to see this performance and to once again go back to this Historical place.
This Theatre is a striking example of visual Gold-Leaf overload and it IS stunningly beautiful. ...and the Ballet; was Great. Dik zase. Cau. pa pa.

Jazz at the Castle; tonight
Prague Castle is not only a dominant monument of the Czech Republic capital; it is also a cultural center. Since 2004, The President of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Klaus, has hosted A monthly concert series entitled: Jazz at the Castle.
This evening, I went up to the Nová Galerie at the Prague Castle with friend to hear/see: Jazz na Hradě: The Martin Brůnner Trio + Lukáš Martinek & Private Earthquake.
President Klaus greeted us and welcomed dignitaries, including the Prime Minister and guests, then the groups and the evening of great Jazz was off and running....
The cost" Plné vstupné: 390,- Kč, or about $20 USD
Martin Brunner Trio
Martin Brunner – piano
Martin Kapusník – kontrabas (Bass)
Tomáš Hobzek - bicí (Drums)
Lukáš Martinek &Private Earthquake
Lukáš Martinek – el. kytara(Elec. Guitar), zpěv (vocals)
Roman Vícha – bicí (drums)
Václav Vávra – basová kytara (Bass Guitar)
Jan Kořínek, j.h. – Hammond B3 Organ
Both groups were good, but the second was like a cross between 1950's American rock/blues and light Jazz...they had the crowd clapping really loudly... but I noticed not too many people were tapping their feet...other than me.
in fact, unfortunately, I was THE only person there with Jeans on and a sweater... everyone else was dressed to "the nines"... well, next time I will know what to wear.. ;-)
so very nice; really excellent. thanks. And really cool to see the President of THE Czech Republic as well. ;-) I mean, how great is that!!!!!

Monumentous Moment....
Alas, tonight I finally ate this ONE very last Gingerbread Man, that My Mom made for Christmas Time and which was sent back with Me to Prague from the US....
I stored it carefully...it was still fresh & soft(well almost) and really excellent...strong ginger flavour and it went great with a hot cup of tea this evening.

& Still; working on 'Zen & The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance'... a bit heavy, but still plodding through it... so to speak, with many questions...about Life, and motorcycle maintenance, atd.

Vyšehrad; the site of the First Prague Castle
Today, a glorious sunny day - mid 50's F; all the snow has melted. I was going to take the train someplace but decided to stay here in Prague...
So I walked through Pankrac Park and then went over to Vyšehard on this warm mid-winter Spring day full of sunshine. The park was filled with couples and families out for a Sunday stroll to overlook the Vltava from high up on this hill-top fortress.
The Bottom Photo: Overlooks the Vltava and that is Smichov in the distance, where I live.
Sunday Morning Apple Pie on Ujezd
Star upon Thars
...on the side of Dům U zlaté studny, the House of the Golden Well, at the intersection of Karlova and Seminářská Streets.
It is one of the more beautiful buildings in Old Prague(Prague 1), with a beautiful gold-leafed facade with the reliefs of Saint Wenceslas and Saint John of Nepomuk, the saint-protectors against the plague and the patron saints of the Jesuit Order. The owners at the time of the Plague, built this in honor of the saints because they survived the plague.
When you look up at this as the sun strikes this facade on a sunny day, it really is quite stunning.

Visa extended...
This early morning, I Once again went to the Foreign Police, this time in Chodov, to get my visa renewed. Yet again the work permit was not what they "expected" to see and I have to go back in early March. At least they granted me a temporary visa extension through the 10th of March.
No worries, though. In March I will re-submit ALL the paperwork I initially submitted in December which they could not find today...and am sure it will go fine.
Wonder what the world would be like IF people actually really DID their jobs???
