Major Winter Storm - Prague & Everywhere in CZ
A snowflake is one of God's most fragile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together! ~ Anon.
It has been snowing here in Prague since Friday morning and keeps coming. The city is a vast Winter Wonderland, with piles of snow everywhere. The cobblestones are very slippery so one takes deliberate steps. The streets are covered with Snow, and brown slush...as they use a combination of dirt, tiny stones and salt on the roads.
The forecast is for more Snow today and tomorrow with a respite for Tuesday. It is pretty, and Wintry. Cold, Blowing Snow but the Trams are unaffected so far, and buses seem to be running fine as well.
Most of the country has been paralyzed with this storm, with Hrádec Kralové to the East of Prague being hit very hard, as well as the mountain regions to the Far Eastern part of the Czech Republic.

Winter Snows...
Brew me a cup for a winter's night.
For the wind howls loud and the furies fight;
Spice it with love and stir it with care,
And I'll toast our bright eyes,
my sweetheart fair.
~Minna Thomas Antrim
It has been snowing all day here today... every minute of every hour since morning. It is a winter wonderland and quite nice, especially knowing I do not have to drive in it. So it is lovely.. I wish I could post a couple of the winter shots I took on this friday.

Slovak security test....
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100106/ap_on_bi_ge/eu_hidden_explosives
This is amazing. Idiotic! Can you imagine the poor guy who was suspected of being a terrorist. He had no idea bomb material had been added to his luggage by the Slovakian police. At the very least, the Slovak Police should have used one of their own to test the system, NOT some poor unsuspecting person, who will now, most likely, be on the terrorist watch list forever.
what were they thinking... Clearly one of the dumbest stunts ever.

By the way, with all the HYPE by the US press about how terrible it was suppose to be to fly SINCE the Christmas attempt by that stupid Nigerian... I must tell you that I actually went through security check points both in Rochester and at JFK faster and more smoothly than ever before. So much for the US press. I wonder if they ever read: "Chicken Little" and "The Boy who cried wolf"? But I guess they need to fill up 24 hours a day of news with bullshit and exaggerated sensationalism.
of course, most likely flights TO the US were more intensely scrutinized..
by why shouldn't all flights be..??
