Church of St. Cyril and Methodius, in Karlova

Back on this date in 1942, this church played a role in the final outcome after the assassination SS General Reinhard Heydrich, the Butcher of Bohemia, as he was called. The Two Czech resistance fighters who assassinated Heydrich along with other supporting Czechs, were hiding in this church when the Nazi's laid siege, to root them out, with 800 SS soldiers. The bottom photo show the bullet holes in the church stonework. Ultimately, instead of being captured by the Nazi's, the men killed themselves, which infuriated Hitler even more. A recent memorial exhibition has just opened in this basement of the church to honor these honors.
