Vinohradská Water Tower on Korunní

This is the Vinohradská Water Tower on Korunní Street, #725, in Vinohrady, Prague 2. It is a dominant feature here and is not far from Jirího z poděbrad náměstí.

It's design is in the neo-renaissance style by architect Antonín Turek. The tower became part of the local water-supply centre in the late 1800's. In the beginning it supplied Vinohrady with water pumped from Vltava River, then after 1912 with water from a large reservoir in Kárané.

The 7th floor contained an cylindrical reservoir with capacity of 200m3. At different times in its history, it supplied water to other Prague districts such as Žižkov, Strašnice, Vršovice, part of Nusle district and to parts of Pankrác.
