Went once again to the Wine Festival this afternoon, this time where the Main Festival was being held, on the grounds of the Chateau. While there a quite famous Czech Government Official was enjoying the Wine as well: Karel Schwarzenberg.
Karel Schwarzenberg served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic from 9 January 2007 to 9 May 2009 in then Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek’s Second Cabinet. Through the first half of 2009, Schwarzenberg was the Council President (Responsible national minister) of the European Union.
On 8 July 2008, he and the American Secretary of State at that time, Condoleezza Rice, signed an historic agreement on the US Missile shield program, which now under President Obama is on hold.
He is currently a Senator, who serves the 6th District of Prague.
He comes from royal lineage. He is a scion and current head of the House of Schwarzenberg. The eldest son of Prince Karl VI of Schwarzenberg and Princess Antonie von Furtenberg his full title is: His Serene Highness The Prince of Schwarzenberg, Count of Sulz, Prince Landgrave of Klettgau, and Duke of Krumlov.
