Bratislava's Beautiful Blue Church

The Church of St. Elisabeth (Slovak: Kostol svätej) commonly known as Blue Church (Modrý kostolík), is an Hungarian Secessionist Catholic church. It is located in the eastern part of the Old Town in Bratislava. It was consecrated to Elisabeth of Hungary, daughter of Andrew II, who grew up in the Pressburg(Bratislava) Castle.

This church was built in 1907-1908 in the Hungarian Art Nouveau style. It is called "Blue Church" because of the colour of its façade, mosaics and blue-glazed brick roof. The façade was at first painted with light pastel colors. Later the church got its characteristic blue color. A line of blue tiles and wave-strip encircles the church. The ground floor of the church is oval. The inside as you can see is also powder blue.
