Erie Canal in Pittsford

Pittsford... My Home Town. The town was Founded in April 1796 as the Town of Northfield, with the name Pittsford first being used in 1814 but it was not incorporated(made formally into a Town) until 1827. Pittsford was established as an agrarian community back in the 1800s and still has a few large farms present to this day. It is Certainly a very young town when compared to places I visit on weekends in the Czech Republic.

The above photograph shows the Erie Canal, which was built in 1825, as it flows through the middle of town, just like in Fairport. But the Bridge I was standing on does not rise. (The Erie Canal flows from one end of New York State to the other, directly through the middle of the State, and through many towns/villages/communities as well)

The photo was taken last Wednesday evening around 20:30. The area to the left in the picture is called Schoen Place, which is a quaint area of restaurants, an ice cream parlor and small specialty and crafty type shops.
