Břevnov Monastery
This is the Břevnov Monastery in Prague 6. What a beautiful Fall day to walk the grounds. The sun was shining through the wooded orchards and small forest. Quite lovely and like an oasis on the outskirts of Prague.
This Benedictine Arch-Abbey, was established in 992 by the Bishop of Prague and Boleslav II, Prince of Bohemia. It is the oldest Benedictine Monastery in the Czech Republic.
The top picture is the top heraldry of the Entrance Gate to the Abbey. The 2nd picture is The Basilica of St. Markety; the 3rd is the highly distinctive "tower" of the Basilica. The grounds themselves contained a really large and nicely kept orchard, an old cemetery, and some ancient un-restored gardens with a myriad of broken stair cases and old fountains. All which look currently as though they are in the process of just starting to be restored.
