Town of Černošice

Černošice, is located about 5km southwest of Prague and is an important modern-day architectural treasure, and a favorite summer resort as well as a small suburb. Population: 5,302.

I Discovered it today, after a short train ride south on the CityElefant. I had seen it from the train many times and just really wanted to walk the village, so I did.

After the Czech West Railway started operating in 1862 through this area and then through World War II, leading architects including J. Kotěra, O. Polívka, K. Štipl, A. Pfeiffer, F. Roith and K. Stráník, created a unique small town here consisting of many villas set within large gardens.

Černošice became a popular summer resort for members of the middle and upper classes from Prague, who began building luxurious villas here. The steep slopes above the Berounka River are filled with these villas and it is quite a unique town..
