Prague Dog Facts

There are currently 85,134 dogs in Prague, with Prague 6 having the most of any of the Prague Burroughs, with 7,727 dogs.

These 85 thousand dogs produce 11 tons of Dog Poo a day. A Day!! So watch where you step.

Prague 6 alone spent 39 M czk or almost $2.0 M, in 2009, just cleaning up this Poo-age.

The law on Poo-age is specific: The owner must immediately pick-up and dispose of recently completed dog by-products. Prague provides Free paper bags which can be found in dispensers any/everywhere in and around Prague; scoop it up in the handy flat cardboard plate and deposit in the brown paper bag, then throw in the green Poopy trash bin. There, Easy!

If dog owners don't, they can be immediately fined 1,000 czk or about $50.

This is a very charged issue here in Prague, as you constantly find yourself dancing down the sidewalks, as you move this way and that way to avoid the various piles of poo-age scattered hither and thither.
