President Obama in Prague

Today, almost a year to the day that President Obama came to Prague a few months after his presidency started, President Obama arrived in Prague this morning via Air Force One to sign the new Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START II) with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at the Prague Castle at noon today.

BTW: Medved in Czech means Bear. Interesting.

Czech President Vaclav Klaus(center, bottom picture)has been speaking very highly of President Obama's return trip to Prague for this occasion and of having both leaders here for this historic occasion.

Watching the news this morning, it was very apparent that security here in Prague was at an extremely high level. The Major road, Evropská, leading from the airport to the Castle was completing closed to all traffic from fours hours before President Obama's arrival until he was securely at Hradčany.

It as been reported in the press that this one day cost to the Czech Republic related to only President Obama's arrival cost 50,000,000 krowns.
